Amman, June 9: The University of Jordan signed a cooperation agreement with Al Manhal for electronic publishing. This agreement allows Al Manhal to publish the scientific and cultural content output of the University electronically.
The agreement was signed by the UJ President, Prof. Ekhleif Tarawneh and Al Manhal CEO, Mr. Mohamad Al Baghdadi, in the presence of the Al Manhal General Director Bashir al-Nasser, and the Director of UJ International Relations Office, his Assistant as well as the Director of the Media, Public and Cultural Relations Unit.
The agreement included the preparation of a database for UJ’s content, such as books, journals, scientific conferences and theses, with a goal to expand the exchange of knowledge and give the opportunity to a largest number of researchers to look at it, which will also benefit the University and the company financially.
Tarawneh stressed the university's keenness to expand elearning, which allow students and researchers to keep up with the latest scientific research.
Moreover, Tarawneh pointed out that the agreement will contribute to UJ’s progress towards internationalization; since the ePublishing will allow for the dispersal of UJ’s research output worldwide.
For his part, Al Baghdadi reviewed tasks undertaken by the company to facilitate openness and cultural and scientific exchanges between institutions, publishers, universities and scientific research institutions in the Arab world, pointing to the participation of more than 86 Universities around the world in its system.
Al Baghdadi also pointed out that Al Manhal database is characterized by the availability of the plagiarism detection program and determines the percentage of quotations for research, scientific articles and theses.
In turn, Al Nasser said that the company is based in the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and has branches in a number of Arab capitals. Al Manhal uses modern techniques and advanced search tools, becoming one of the strongest Arab e-publishing platforms and the most diverse on the scientific level.
